Wellness Programs

The dental benefits industry has given an extraordinary amount of attention lately to research that identifies specific dental diseases which complicate high risk medical conditions. DNoA has taken a comprehensive approach to this industry focus by launching proactive dental wellness campaigns for our clients.

As a DNoA client, you will have the option to choose from an array of wellness initiatives for your members. The DNoA wellness model implements the concepts of evidence based research, consumer driven decision making tools and disease management by widely disseminating educational information to targeted audiences. For dental only data, we will analyze claims data and define who is at risk for caries (cavities) or periodontal disease. For clients that have access to medical claims data, we will identify through a comprehensive analysis of medical and dental claim data, those members at risk with targeted health conditions such as diabetes, cardio vascular disease and pregnancy. Targeted members would then be sent relevant and specific information on how their dental diagnosis could complicate these matters further and what they can do about it to prevent further complications.

DNoA is capable of reaching out to specific members in a proactive and cost efficient manner. Our ultimate goal is to improve health outcomes and reducing costs.

DNoA’s Dental Wellness program has 3 components:

  1. General Wellness Information – available to all those that seek information on a proactive basis. Also used as a reference tool in our targeted outreach efforts.

    • Dental Wellness Center®: Web application that can be custom-branded for your site and then accessed through your site via simple URL links. Content includes:

      • Comprehensive and customizable educational material
      • Consumer Driven Tools: Including Ask A Dentist, Dental Cost Estimator, Risk Assessments and a Dental Dictionary of terms
      • Enhanced Find A Dentist Function: In addition to network participation, search results list whether dentists are “Dentistat-certifiedTM” – an indicator that a dentist has been independently reviewed and certified by Dentistat and found to have proper credentials, appropriate utilization patterns, and is subject to ongoing utilization monitoring and re-credentialing.

    • Public awareness campaign: includes a promotional campaign targeting dental providers, members and brokers. Using venues such as newsbriefs, trade publications, customer service advocates and provider newsletters, we are able to provide an ongoing dialogue with our customers promoting dental wellness and its benefits.
    • Sponsorship initiatives: In an effort to share similar goals and resources, DNoA is in the process of establishing a partnership with local dental teaching institutions, dental product manufacturers and nonprofit health organizations. Through these sponsorship initiatives, DNoA will be able to leverage additional education, products and awareness throughout the marketplace, in support of the dental wellness program.
  2. Targeted Education To Improve Dental Health – analysis of dental claims data to identify members with or at risk for dental disease.

    • Caries Management Program: Target parents of children with educational flyers to promote the benefits of sealants
    • Periodontal Management Program: Target those in periodontal treatment with educational flyers to promote the benefits of effective periodontal therapy
  3. Targeted Education To Improve Medical Health – analysis of medical claims information to identify members with dental coverage that have a high risk medical condition that can be complicated by dental disease

    • Target Conditions: Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pregnancy
